Close all other programs running on the computer, apart from those you have open for your audio work. Turn off wireless networking when running your DAW.
Restart your computer. Look at the CPU usage of your system. Record Projects at higher Sample Rates. Because a higher sample rate causes the computer to process the audio more rapidly, it fills and empties the buffer faster.
However, whether the computer can process the audio more rapidly is not always a given. Delete or make inactive any unused tracks and plugins. Use zero-latency monitoring. This is a feature of the sound card which bypasses the effects of computer-based latency. Buffer sizes should be adjusted in increments of Monitor through headphones. Monitoring through headphones will remove that latency. My set up is using the Pod Go as the input device via USB and a Scarlett 2i2 interface as the output running studio monitors.
At random times the Pod Go will experience a hiccup with a resulting dramatic increase in latency forcing me to close and reopen Logic Pro. The DAW will auto adjust latency for recording itself then and everything will be in sync. Thanks for the response. You are using two audio interfaces at the same time. This leads to clock misalignment in those units. Just use Scarlett as the main interface and connect your POD to it via line in. I like to tweak the Pod Go presets via the Pod Go editor while I’m in a recording session while also having the monitors running out of the Scarlett my default setup.
Kind of a hassle to always have to run the monitors directly out of the Pod Go whenever I want to record and also tweak presets on the fly via the editor. If it gets worse, I try to freeze my channels to keep adding big plugins to the project. Sometimes I have to figure out something, so I open a piano plugin to play with the song, and once in a while, I record extra back vocals.
You can do this when Low Latency Mode is on. This one also saves lives. Sometimes I decide if there are any needs for a pad synth or some extra sub frequencies from a synthesizer. And the last thing that I want is to forget what I just found.
This setting continuously records what you play on your MIDI, so you can always find the best part of your improvisation. I discovered this one later, but I love it. Because it helps a lot to see the timing on the ruler with the bars. It was a habit when I was using Pro Tools, and I was missing that feature.
I always think of the channels in groups because it helps to understand the song. For example, when you download a channels multitrack file and import it to your mixing project, it can be scary at first.
Also, you can process the same kind of sounds together if you use those bus groups. For example, I always tend to compress the drums together to get the most energy out of them. Therefore, I have to route all of them to a bus group. Having that group from the beginning is perfect for me. The bus routings are on the second page of the buses, so your primary bus names can stay the same.
You can see it below:. Set the sample rate of your project Set the sample rate for your project when you first create it. Click Devices.
