For example, your files previously resided on drive D. This will continue to work fine, unless you later try to connect the old drive to the computer using a different drive letter. PSE has found this volume on your computer using the volume serial number.
There are two situations that could cause this:. PSE then fails to update its volume table with the new drive letter. PSE then fails to update its volume table with the new drive letters. See 1. For either situation, the easiest fix is to reassign drive letters in Windows so that the drives have the original drive letters recorded in the catalog.
See this Microsoft knowledgebase article the article is specific to Windows XP, though the procedure on Vista is very similar. There are two drives in the volume table with the same drive letter or, in the case of network drives, with the same UNC path.
When upgrading to a new version of PSE, bugs in the catalog conversion apparently can add duplicate drives to the catalog. Bugs in how PSE handles network drives can add duplicate network volumes to the catalog that differ only in case e. This can result from a specific sequence of reconnecting files residing on the network drive and then importing more files from the drive using drag-and-drop to the Organizer.
One symptom is that PSE will let you import a file from a network drive a second time, creating a duplicate thumbnail. In either case, the only known workaround is to use a SQLite tool to modify the catalog database file requiring technical expertise.

If you want, I can take the screen shots to show you this also. The date and size explain that you are currently using the catalog at Default location in C drive. However since the catalog is also in your D drive, you can browse to the Custom Location, and use it. Catalog at D drive might be missing some changes, you perhaps performed after the move, that is from 1st March to 4th March.
If they aren’t much, you can do them again to the catalog in D drive, and then keep using it. Thank you so much Somya. Yes, I understand your explanations. I also thought it was using the Default drive catalog since its Date was most recent and Size was bigger than what is shown for the Catalog in my Custom location in D: drive.
What does this imply? I am pretty sure that the organizer does not create such duplicates, but we have to live with that hard fact. I doubt it, and you can check by creating a new test folder in ‘Catalogs accessible to all users’.

Only the last used ‘custom’ catalog will be shown on the bottom in the ‘custom’ location and only if the radio button is set on custom. Somya, you ask: ” having twice the same catalog folder with the same name on two locations; why this duplication? Anyway, it is very confusing.
